Our Story
The idea for Brass Falcon Editing was first floated in 2014, while its lead editor and sole proprietor, Glyn Carelhue, was a struggling teacher, deeply disillusioned with the educational system. A close friend asked her to edit a personal statement for medical residency, and she found she had a knack for this line of work and that it suited her introverted personality. Her sister, a woman in STEM, encouraged the idea of opening her own editing business, and Brass Falcon Editing was conceived. While long-term traveling through Eastern Europe, Ms. Carelhue decided to actualize her dream of achieving financial independence through remote work. She began finding work on freelancing apps, enrolled in a proofreading course, and focused on developing an outstanding online presence. With help from the San Francisco and Boston chapters of the Small Business Development Center, Brass Falcon has grown organically into an access-oriented venture serving the needs of independent researchers, writers, and publishers.

The Editor
Glyn Carelhue, owner and sole proprietor of Brass Falcon Editing, earned a BA in Literature/Creative Writing from the University of California, San Diego and an MA in Teaching from USC. She went on to teach mathematics and English in San Francisco, CA and London, UK before traveling long-term and completing a proofreading course on Knowadays with a certificate of distinction. Ms. Carelhue is adept with all major style types (APA, MLA, Harvard, Chicago & Turabian, AMA, OSCOLA, and IEEE) and is a top-rated editor on Upwork with a 100% job success rate. She is also a general and medical editor and medical reviewer for the online platform Proofed, where she has worked with articles that have gone on to be published in journals that include Clinics in Medicine, BioMed Central, Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology, Aging Cell, and Annals of Medicine. She lives in Arlington, MA.
